Summary:
The Legal Assistant works closely with attorney and personal injury paralegal.
Handles a moderate to high-volume caseload; must be able to multitask, prioritize and have excellent attention to detail while maintaining organization; must be a positive team-member with the ability to function in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment.
This position includes a heavy administrative component.
Duties/
Responsibilities:
? Perform any and all tasks related to various areas of law the firm engages in, as assigned.
? Carry out any and all duties assigned by the attorney or their designated personnel.
? Perform intake and manage client information in a case management system, while maintaining documentation of all client interactions.
? Provide legal support to the personal injury attorney and other paralegal staff.
? Assist with drafting, reviewing and filing of claims for all types including medical records, motions, discovery and settlement documents.
? Assist with preparing case files from various sources not limited only to court dockets, trial papers, jury trials, hearings and arbitration proceedings.
? Maintain client confidentiality through proper documentation and maintain good working relationships with clients, lawyers and insurance companies.
? Communicating directly with clients and attorneys to keep them informed about the status of their case.
? Researching case law, statutory law, and other relevant information related to the case at hand.
? Assisting with contacting insurance companies on behalf of clients to obtain settlement offers and assist with negotiating settlements for injury claims.
? Scheduling client appointments with physicians and other healthcare professionals for treatment of injuries.
? Prepare pleadings to initiate an estate or guardianship proceeding.
? Monitor and maintain the estate administration, trust administration and guardianship files.
? Monitor the estate and trust accounts, including the payment of monthly expenses for an estate or trust.
? Perform other administrative tasks as needed (phones, mail, etc.
).
Required Skills/Abilities:
? Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and multitask.
? Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills for maintaining professional relationships.
Education and
Experience:
? High school diploma or GED ? Bilingual is a plus Benefits after 90 days:
